About the Artist

Daughter of jazz legend Charlie Parker, Kim Parker is an award-winning jazz vocalist who spent the first seven years of her life on the famed 52nd street in New York City.

Having been raised during Charlie Parker’s most emotionally difficult period, Kim witnessed it all! Her lecture will focus on her life in music and will include a chance for a time of questions and answers.

“I’ve got nothing to hide. It’s time the truth be out there,” Parker said.

“To say we are excited to have Ms. Parker is an understatement,” said Joel Griffin, director of jazz studies. “The wealth of knowledge and experience she will be bring to our campus is simply but once in a lifetime. Being the last living immediate family member of the Parker family, she is truly a national treasure.”

Ms. Parker has recorded on many jazz albums, television broadcasts, and films and her performing credits read like a “Who’s Who” of jazz artists.
