SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Evangel University’s Theatre program invites the community to attend its fall production of “Little Women” on November 7-9 at 7 p.m. in the Barnett Fine Arts Theater on Evangel’s campus.
Tickets may be purchased in advance at evangel.edu/boxoffice or at the door. Prices are $20 for adults (ages 19-59), $15 for senior citizens (ages 60+) and students/children (ages 4-18), and $5 for current EU students with ID.
“Little Women” is based on the book by Louisa May Alcott and adapted by Thomas Hischak. The play follows the lives of the four March sisters – Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy –growing up in Civil War-era Massachusetts and illustrates the novel’s central themes of family and love as the sisters navigate the journey from childhood to adulthood, each with her distinct personality and dreams. In Hischak’s adaptation, Jo narrates the story in retrospect, emphasizing its timeless messages of sisterhood, resilience, and self-discovery.
Originally published in two volumes in 1868 and 1869, Alcott’s novel was inspired by her own life. The book has maintained its popularity over the years, inspiring numerous adaptations including films, television series, plays, operas, ballets, and musicals.
