
SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Evangel University announces the appointment of Erin Hedlun as chief marketing and communications officer, effective immediately. Hedlun has served as the senior director of marketing and communications and has been a member of the university’s Marketing & Communications team since 2018. She brings a wealth of experience in strategic marketing and communications and will continue to play a pivotal role in propelling Evangel’s growth and strengthening its presence in the region and nationwide.
Hedlun will oversee the development and execution of Evangel’s marketing strategies and communication initiatives, focusing on brand awareness, market reach, and meaningful engagement with prospective students, alumni, and other constituents of the university. She will report directly to Dr. Mike Rakes, Evangel University’s president, will serve as a member of the president’s cabinet, and will have an integral voice in shaping the university’s vision and strategic objectives.

Prior to working for the university, Hedlun spent four years as the public information officer for the Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management, coordinating media and marketing activities. She also served as the director of marketing & communications for Global University and for Temple University’s Dialogue Institute.
Hedlun holds a bachelor’s degree from Evangel University in electronic media and is a FEMA-certified master of public information. She currently serves as the immediate past-president of the Southwest Missouri chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, among other community volunteer roles.
She and her husband, Donavon (also an EU graduate), reside in Nixa, Missouri with their sons, Gideon and Gibson.
