Evangel University celebrates annual Homecoming activities this weekend

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri –  Evangel University’s annual Homecoming activities will take place this Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 19-21.

A Homecoming chapel service will be held on Friday, Oct. 20 at 9:45 a.m. in Spence Chapel featuring guest speaker Rev. Doug Clay, general superintendent of the Assemblies of God.

Following the chapel service, attendees are invited to participate in packing hygiene kits for Convoy of Hope through Evangel’s Center for Compassion. The event will be held in Trask Hall 208. Also at 11 a.m., tours will be conducted of EU’s newly renovated Walther Hall dormitory. The completed project is part of Evangel’s historic Here. Now. Campaign.

The 2023 alumni awardees will be recognized in a special ceremony at 4 p.m. on Friday in the Barnett Recital Hall.

Various department-specific award ceremonies and events will take place throughout the weekend.

On Friday afternoon, the men’s and women’s soccer teams will face Sterling College at Evangel’s Coryell Field. The ladies game starts at 3 p.m. and the men’s game begins at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free.

EU’s annual County Fair will be held on the quad on Friday evening beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The Evangel University football team will take on Friends University at Nixa High School’s Eagle Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 3 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance on the EU Athletics website or at the gate for $10 per ticket for adults; 12 and under are free.
