Erin Payne presents her senior music theatre recital

Springfield MO — Evangel University musical theatre major Erin Payne will perform her senior recital on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 7:30 PM in the Barnett Recital Hall.

The recital is free and open to the public.

The Barnett Fine Arts Center is located on the south side of the Spence Chapel, facing 1111 N. Glenstone Ave. in Springfield, Mo. Refreshments will be provided.

Payne will be accompanied by Carol Wilson, and she will be performing duets with Mariah Murrish and Cole Stoecker.

About Erin Payne

A native of Ottumwa, Iowa, Erin is the daughter of Craig and Desirae Payne.

During her years at Evangel, she has masterfully performed as Emily in Our Town, Mrs. Higgins in My Fair Lady, Mrs. Cratchit in A Christmas Carol, and is currently in rehearsals for the part of Amy March in the Spring 2020 production of Little Women.

For the past two years, Erin has also served as the teaching assistant to Dr. Vickie Wisdom, head of the theatre program at Evangel.

Her near-term goal is to work at one of the Sight & Sound Theater locations.

Long-range, she plans to “pursue a master’s degree in theater, so that I can teach at the collegiate level,” she said. “However, if God has bigger plans for me, I’m going to let him take the wheel.”

 

Theatre at Evangel

The theatre program at Evangel University is under the Humanities Department and is housed in the Barnett Fine Arts Center.

“EU theatre is a vibrant, growing program that has seen more than a 200% increase in majors and minors in the past three years,” said Dr. Wisdom.

“Our graduates are successful across the country as teachers, managers, actors, playwrights, directors, pastors, programmers, administrators, community builders, MFA graduate students and the list goes on.”
