SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Dr. Paul Lewis, professor of historical theology and intercultural studies at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary at Evangel University, has co-authored the third volume of Baker Academic’s textbook series, “Foundations for Spirit-Filled Christianity.” The book, “Introduction to Biblical Interpretation: Participating in God’s Story of Redemption,” was co-written with Jacqueline Grey, professor of biblical studies at Alphacrucis University College in Sydney, Australia.
The volume introduces biblical interpretation through the framework of Christian theology and global Christian perspectives with Pentecostal/Charismatic lenses. It includes a straightforward outline designed to help beginning students interpret and apply Scripture. The book also examines the Bible’s genres and historical contexts, offering practical insights for ministry leaders today.

“This volume, as well as the rest of the series, is intended to be a resourceful textbook used in schools at the introductory level, but also in local churches, engaging globalized voices within orthodox Christianity with Pentecostal and Charismatic sensibilities,” said Lewis.
The Foundations series equips readers with accessible, high-quality, introductory resources that reflect both the global and Pentecostal nature of the Church. Lewis co-edited the series’ first two volumes, “Introduction to Theology” and “Introduction to Spirituality.”
Lewis has served at AGTS since 2012 and has authored and edited numerous articles and publications on a broad range of theology and missions-related topics.
“Introduction to Biblical Interpretation” is available for order through Amazon and Baker Academic.
