Army, Air Force, and Navy Tuition Assistance is just what it says, assistance. This program is meant to assist the service member with paying for college to save their well-deserved VA benefits for after they separate. All branches of the military pay $250 per credit hour with an annual cap of $4,500. Army soldiers are eligible for TA when they have successfully completed one year of service following Advanced Individual Training (AIT) graduation. Airmen must have a service commitment that extends beyond the class end date.
To initiate Tuition Assistance (TA), a service member must go to their base education office and let them know they are interested in TA. The education office will counsel the service member on the TA program and inform them on eligibility and grade requirements.
