Chapel

Evangel University is a Christ-centered and Spirit-led community that commits itself to develop students both academically and spiritually. As a part of this, students, faculty, and staff gather together in chapel three times each week. Dr. Mike & Darla Rakes shepherd EU’s Chapel experience from powerful worship led by Evangel students to life-changing messages from them and their special guests.

Spiritual Life on Campus

The Spiritual Life Department coordinates spiritual life activities for the university. The department schedules chapel services that emphasize worship, the Word of God, and real-life stories of God’s grace leading to personal encounters with Him.

University Chapel

The student body of Evangel gathers from 9:45-10:35 each Wednesday and Friday through the semester for University Chapel. These chapels are filled with student-led worship provided by EU Worship and HeartSong. Additionally, students grow in their knowledge of God and the Bible through the preaching of Dr. Mike and Pastor Darla. Other local and national communicators round out the annual preaching schedule. Attendance is expected at University Chapel as outlined in the Student Handbook.

Student-Led Chapels

The Student Ministries Campus Chaplain team plans and leads multiple student-led chapels throughout the year, in different contexts around campus. Encounter Chapel happens weekly, Monday mornings from 9:45-10:35am in Spence Chapel and is open to all students on campus. Students also love to gather with the people they share specific experiences and interests with. Student-led chapels are planned for students living in the Residence Halls and those competing on Athletic Teams. Different Student-led chapels, focused on various student groups, take place throughout the year to foster spiritual growth in specific contexts.

Spiritual Saturation Week

Twice each year students are encouraged to participate in focused spiritual activities each day during the week.  This includes intentional times of worship, prayer, and extended altar times. Additional services are added for Spiritual Saturation to allow for more opportunities to center our lives in the presence of God.

Small Groups

Discipleship happens best in the context of community. At Evangel, Student Ministries Small Group Leaders are selected each year to facilitate spiritual growth and care in a variety of small group environments. The content includes a wide-ranging array of topics to allow every student to find a group that meets them right where they are and help them take the next steps spiritually.

Student Ministries

Today’s generation of young adults want to know their life matters. Student Ministries is Evangel University’s ministry arm which trains and empowers students to minister on and off campus. Through traveling impact ministry teams like Catalyst, or the teams which support our student body like EUnite and IncludEU, Student Ministriesis the center for engaging students in ministry all throughout the semester.

Service Days

Students at Evangel are marked by their compassion and service for others. Each semester the Student Ministries Community Engagement team works with the Center for Compassion to reach beyond the campus and make a difference in the community. From elementary schools, neighborhoods, soup kitchens, to many other great community organizations, Evangel students are serving in ways that meet the physical and emotional needs of our neighbors.
