Tell us about your career and what you do now. I have been in the Supply Chain field for almost 15 years; starting at Anheuser-Bush InBev, Amsted Rail, World Wide Technology, and currently Alton Steel. I’ve been a lead negotiator for large capital purchases. I’ve created best practices for supply ordering, overseen national agreements for multi-plant sites, and was the procurement lead for acquisition of internation facility in Australia. Procurement can be a very fulfilling career, where you can combine interpersonal and analytical skills.
What is your favorite memory from Evangel? I have so many great memories of sports events and friendships. Bible classes were fantastic, along with chapel. But my favorite is meeting my wife, Elisabeth. Celebrating 17 years this October!
How did Evangel help you identify/develop your calling? Evangel taught me that faith should not be silent in the public sector. Evangel also confirmed that Business was something that I enjoyed and could make a difference.
How did your experience at Evangel prepare you for life after graduation? Evangel classes were challenging and insightful. I had some great teachers during my time, some of which I keep in contact with, Mr. Dana and Dr. Martindale.
What advice would you give a current student preparing for the workforce? You will run into an array of different people, who have different motivations. Stay true to your faith and convictions. Be a good listener. Pray for wisdom daily.
What would you look for if you were in a position to hire new graduates from Evangel? Coachability and assertiveness. Someone that is driven, yet meek.
