Evangel is the perfect place to explore your calling and learn in your faith. Beyond the campus, though, is an amazing city full of exciting things to do, even on a college budget!
Some may think that there isn’t much to do in Springfield but take a look at this list of local attractions to change your tune.
Springfield Art Walk
On the first Friday of each month, the Springfield Regional Arts Council hosts the First Friday Art Walk. Since the art walk’s beginnings in the 90’s, several local galleries and businesses have worked to promote fine art here in Springfield.
It doesn’t cost anything to visit, just be sure to bring some cash if you want to eat at any of the delicious eateries downtown. For a complete list of FFAW members and a map of locations, visit the FFAW website.
Live Theatre and Entertainment
There is nothing quite like live theatre or watching an improv show. While some of these might be a bit on the higher price side, they would make a great special night out for you and your friends, or maybe that special someone!
You can laugh your head off at the Springfield Improv, where you become a part of the show. Or, enjoy a modern show that pushes boundaries at the Springfield Contemporary Theatre. For a higher price, you can see a classic play or musical at the Springfield Little Theatre. Ranging in prices from $5-$35, you can go enjoy a night full of entertainment to relax after studying!
Movie Theatres
Even with the comfort of Netflix and Hulu, watching a movie in a theatre adds a bit of excitement to the overall experience.
Are you a comic book buff who can’t wait to see the Avengers or Justice League battle to save the world? A horror fan who stayed up to see the IT remake? Or do you want to sit on the edge of your seat while watching the events of Dunkirk unfold? Then take a trip to the movie theater to enjoy what you love in a room of people like you.
