SPRINGFIELD, Missouri — Evangel University has been recognized by Colleges of Distinction (COD) with a newly created international distinction for 2024-25, highlighting the university’s intentional focus on enhancing the college experience for its diverse population of students from around the world. Evangel is one of only four universities in Missouri recognized. The distinction builds on the university’s national COD designation for the past eight years.
The International COD recognition is given to institutions that demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting international students and fostering their success in a new cultural environment. With an increasingly global student population, the distinction emphasizes the importance of tailored support, community integration, and academic resources that address the unique challenges faced by international students.
“At Evangel University, we celebrate the diverse experiences and perspectives that international students bring to our campus,” said Chris Belcher, vice president for enrollment management. “We are dedicated to providing the resources and integrative community environment they need to thrive both academically and personally as they embark on their educational journey with us.”
A primary resource for EU international students is the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), which offers personalized advising, visa assistance, and financial aid resources. ISSS team members ensure that international students have access to necessary health care and well-being services as they adapt to their new surroundings.
The university also provides tailored academic support, including first-year experience programs, and encourages student engagement through campus clubs and organizations, mentorship programs, and cultural events.
“Colleges of Distinction have always been noted for their hands-on approach to undergraduate education,” said Tyson Schritter, chief operating officer of COD. “Evangel University has shown that it prioritizes the success of all of its students, from those in Missouri and around the country to those traveling to campus from around the world.”
25 countries are represented this fall among EU’s on-campus undergraduate student population.
