Tell us about your career and what you do now?
I was a high school state champion, all state performer, and heavily recruited prospect coming into college.I received the first 4 year basketball scholarship from CBC. I also received All – American 3 years and honorable mention 1 year. When I left school I had 2,898 career points and 1,163 career rebounds . I averaged 25.5 points per game my best year, and was #3 in the nation in scoring in NAIA. I set the record for the most points scored in a game with 54 points, and the most points I scored in a season was 800. I made the District 16 NAIA first team 4 times, and all region all tourney 6 times.
I had the honor of playing for The Harlem Legends and Meadowlarks Harlem AllStars teams for seven seasons. I was given the nickname “The Ghost” because I was the only white player. I was picked up to be their shooter. The greatest part was traveling , sharing Jesus, and doing school assemblies. My Roommate, former NBA great Billy Thompson, and I would spend hours sharpening iron in one another’s life. It was truly a blessed and incredible experience in my life. I have served 2 youth pastor roles, been principal of a Christian Academy, coached numerous kids teams, coached high school girls basketball, and served 3 churches as a Pastor. I have been the Pastor at my current church for almost 26 years. I have been so blessed by the Lord. Now I get to spend time working with my grandson Gavin , who is quite the player.
What is your favorite memory from CBC?
My favorite memories come from the many hours I shared with my coaches, friends, teammates. I also enjoyed the great ministry opportunities we encountered. Coach Denny Duron was an outstanding influence.
How did your experience at CBC prepare you for life after graduation?
CBC taught me how to prioritize and organize my life. Coach Kirk Hanson and Coach Forrest Arnold both played large roles in molding and shaping my life. President Lednecky and Sis Lednecky both poured into my life to help me shape it and excel in my life.
What advice would you give a current student preparing for the workforce?
My advice would be to prepare yourself to be ready to face whatever is in front of you. Know what you desire to do and go after it with determination, positivity, and zeal. Never become bitter, but become better.
What would you look for if you were in a position to hire a new graduate?
I would first look for a positive attitude! I would also seek someone who is confident, yet willing to try new things to grow and develop. Good work ethics and being on time are also very important. I would want someone who I can count on to be assertive, but also humble and a team player.
