Tell us about your career and what you do now.
I am the office manager of Marketing and Communications at Franciscan University. It is my role to promote Franciscan University in good light to prospective students. I do this by covering the photography of press conferences and university events. I speak with the local media about the university as well as speak to students, parents and alumni over the phone and address concerns that they many have regarding the university.
What is your favorite memory from Evangel?
My favorite memory from Evangel was having my group of girls that I could always count on. We did everything together!
How did Evangel help you identify/develop your calling?
Evangel was my beacon of hope that I had a calling on my life. Before EU I did not have a “divine moment” that defined what I would be doing with my life. The staff and faculty of Evangel University showed me that I didn’t have to have a divine moment, that God gave me unique gifts and talents for a reason and that I was to use them for His glory.
How did your experience at Evangel prepare you for life after graduation?
I have utilized the career services department even after graduation. They have helped me form my professional resume as well as helped me with connections on getting a job after college.
What advice would you give a current student preparing for the workforce?
My biggest advice is to not settle. You have a degree, and you are more than capable of getting a career. Don’t settle for something less than you want because you are afraid. Don’t look at the things you can already see. Trust God for the things you can’t see.
What would you look for if you were in a position to hire new graduates from Evangel?
If I were in a position to hire new graduates, I would look first and foremost for motivation and drive to continue to better themselves. Evangel taught me that the sky is the limit and to not give myself a glass ceiling. I would look for a graduate that is innovative and consistently learning on their own in their career field.
