SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – The Evangel University Music Department will present several musical performances this month. All events are free and the public is invited to attend.
Events include:
- Jazz Orchestra & Symphonic Band Concert: Tuesday, Nov. 9 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall
- EU Chorale Concert: Thursday, 11 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall
- University Orchestra Concert: Tuesday, 16 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in Spence Chapel
The Jazz Orchestra & Symphonic Band Concert on November 9 will feature direction from Justin Stanton, Evangel’s recently hired director of bands. This will be Stanton’s first concert as director.
The EU Chorale Concert will be directed by Dr. Tom Matrone, chair of Evangel’s Music Department and director of choral activities.
The University Orchestra Concert will be directed by Dr. Larry Dissmore, director of orchestra activities and professor of music.
In addition to these concerts, two Evangel students plan to present senior recitals.
Natalie Slater will perform a violin recital on November 13 at 6 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall. Slater is from Springfield and is a double major in Music and English.
Jonathan Martin will perform a voice recital on November 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall. Martin is from
Highlandville, Missouri, and is a Music Education major.
The Department of Music
The Department of Music at Evangel University offers degrees in Music, Music Education, Music Performance, Music: Recording Technology, and Music: Worship Leadership. Each program is carefully designed to ensure that students build strong musical skills, gain professional training, and experience a wide range of musical activities.
The department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and the Missouri Association of Departments & Schools of Music
