SPRINGFIELD, MO — Evangel University President Carol A. Taylor, Ph.D., announced today that Commencement 2020 has been rescheduled to a virtual commencement to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 15. Video announcement.
The 62nd Annual Commencement for Evangel, which had been scheduled to be in person,* will now be held virtually due to public health considerations. The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary will celebrate its 47th Annual Commencement as a part of the same ceremony.
EU alum and Emmy Award-winning journalist Steve Grant will be the commencement speaker. A career-long news anchor at KY3 (NBC News), Steve was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award by Evangel in 2010 and is on the Communications Department’s Wall of Honor.

Graduates who planned to participate in the in-person commencement will receive their academic regalia, including any cords and a diploma cover, in the mail.
Graduates are encouraged to take a photo in their regalia and send them to marketing@evangel.edu before August 1 for inclusion in the virtual commencement.

Unfortunately, Baccalaureate activities and a picnic celebration have been canceled due to public health considerations.
Plans for 2021
“Evangel University is planning an in-person celebration for 2020 graduates in May 2021,” said President Taylor.
“All of this year’s graduates are invited to return and participate in the May 2021 Commencement.”
