SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — On Friday, Sept. 25, at 12:15 p.m., a group of freshman Evangel University students, along with Drs. Joan Cargnel and Colleen Hardy, will be leaving campus to deliver more than 200 pairs of shoes to students at Weller Elementary School, located on the corner of Division and Weller.
Dr. Hardy is chair of the Education Department, and Dr. Cargnel is the freshman seminar instructor and professor of education.
Evangel freshmen, in cooperation with Convoy of Hope, held an outreach at Weller Elementary School on Saturday, Aug. 23. During the event, all the Weller students who were in attendance were measured for new shoes.
This year, the Evangel students decided that instead of purchasing New Student Orientation shirts they wanted to purchase shoes for the Weller children. Wal-Mart also generously donated $1,000 for the shoes.
