Softball’s Kendra Corbin and Breanna Canclini Named NAIA All-Americans

Springfield, Mo. — Evangel University had two players named NAIA All-Americans by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics today.

Outfielder Kendra Corbin was named a First Team All-American after batting .470 with 7 home runs, and 30 RBIs from the lead-off position in Evangel’s line-up. She scored a school record 64 runs in 47 games played and was named Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year in the Heart of America conference. Corbin also had a .505 on-base percentage with 31 stolen bases. The Andrews, Texas native completed her junior year last season after transferring from Howard College in Texas.

Designated Player Breanna Canclini was named to the Second Team on the All-American list. Canclini hit .406 with 13 home runs and 51 RBIs in 42 games. Canclini led Evangel with a .774 slugging percentage was the conference leader in home runs and RBIs. She was a senior from Placerville, California.

The duo becomes the ninth and tenth All-Americans in the history of Evangel’s softball program.

The Lady Crusaders finished the 2009 season with a 34-13 record.
