Women’s Softball Adds Transfers Hannah Somers of Lawrence, Kansas and Kaitlyn Hasty of Desoto, Missouri for 2010 season

Springfield, Mo. — Junior Outfielder Hannah Somers from Lawrence, Kansas transfers to the EU program after playing two seasons at Fort Scott Community College. She helped lead the Greyhounds to the 2009 Region VI Tournament and championship game finishing as runner-up. Somers hit “cleanup” for the Greyhound lineup finishing the season with a .309 batting average, 51 hits, 15 doubles, 1 triple, 16 home runs, 67 RBI’s, and a .703 slugging percentage.
“Hannah is a gamer, a performer,” said Jerry Breaux Head Softball Coach at Evangel. “We look for her to anchor the EU lineup with her experience and run-producing bat. We’re excited to add Hannah to our team and program.”
Sophomore Pitcher (LHP) Kaitlyn Hasty from DeSoto, Missouri transfers to the EU program from University Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL). Hasty spent the 2009 season at UMSL, Great Lakes Valley Conference Champions. She appeared in 10 games finishing with a 4-3 record. Hasty prepped at DeSoto High School where she was a two-time All-State performer finishing her prep career with an outstanding 58-8 pitching record.
“Kaitlyn has the potential and background to really excel as a pitcher in our program,” said Breaux. “We feel she has the experience and ability to come in and help us right away. We’re excited to add her to our pitching staff and team.”
Hasty also excels in the classroom with her outstanding academic record (3.8 and 30 ACT.) The Crusader softball team was honored as NAIA Academic National Champions for their outstanding team GPA for the 2007-08 school year. “Hasty will help add to this tradition,” added Breaux
