Springfield, Mo. — Evangel University’s women’s basketball team will know the details of their first round game in the NAIA-I Women’s National Tournament by noon Thursday when the bracket is announced by the NAIA.
The Lady Crusaders (21-10) received an automatic bid to the national tournament by winning the Heart of America conference regular season championship. This is Evangel’s inaugural season at the NAIA Division I level after 17 years competing in NAIA-II.
In the final NAIA-I Women’s National Poll, Evangel was not placed in the Top 25. The poll, released today by the NAIA, had the Lady Crusaders receiving votes and based on their points total in the poll are ranked 28th nationally.
The NAIA released the field of 32 teams participating in the national tournament including the 14 at-large bids. A listing can be found on the NAIA’s website.
Evangel University Athletics will issue a news release regarding their opening round and the tournament bracket following the NAIA’s announcement Thursday.
The NAIA-I Women’s National Tournament starts Wednesday, March 18 and continues through Tuesday, March 24 at Oman Arena in Jackson, Tennessee.
