Brianna Mingus Named HAAC Player of the Week

Springfield, Mo. — Junior guard Brianna Mingus was named the Heart of America conference women’s basketball Player of the Week today.
Mingus averaged 15.5 points in two games for the Lady Crusaders last week as Evangel won both their games. The Rogersville native scored 19 points in Evangel’s regular season conference championship clinching game in the 46-43 win over Avila Saturday. Mingus hit a 3-pointer with two minutes remaining against Avila that gave the Lady Crusaders the lead for good in the game.
It is the sixth time a Lady Crusaders player has won the award and Mingus is the fifth different Evangel player to be honored by the league this season.
The Lady Crusaders (20-9, 17-3) will enter the conference tournament as the number one seed Wednesday when they host eighth-seeded Central Methodist (10-19, 7-13) at 7 p.m. at the Ashcroft Center. Due to postponed games Saturday, the HAAC regular season will not be completed until tonight and the full tournament bracket will be determined after tonight’s game of Graceland at Baker.
