KECC
The campus radio station, KECC, is a student-run medium which provides music and news to the Evangel community. Students act as announcers, newscasters and sportscasters on the air on an FM stereo frequency that radiates through the residence halls and campus apartments. KECC's format features contemporary Christian music with news, weather, and sports every 30 minutes. Students receive "real-life" training in announcing, writing news, audio production, digital mixing, and station management.
KECC, a 24-hour radio station, features a variety of programming including:
- Local news
- Campus news
- News from UPI and other sources
- Campus sports
- Christian contemporary music & modern rock hits
"I learned management skills that I could have never learned in any classroom. KECC was a very good hands-on shot at life in the real world."
—Tim Rodman, alumnus and former KECC station manager
Volunteers and students in the radio workshop class are the primary people who work at the station. As students gain experience in radio, they can apply for staff positions. Using a combination of computer-controlled sound equipment and mixer board operations, KECC offers students the opportunity to learn hands-on skills while using state-of-the-art equipment.
KECC broadcasts live from 6-1 a.m. and is automated from 1-6 a.m. Volunteers and students in the radio workshop class do live broadcasts featuring music and news and sports. Mr. Gabe Mays is the faculty adviser.
